Celebration Cakes we love for Kids’ Birthday Parties

The highlight of any birthday party for our little ones is the moment when the birthday cake is brought in, candles blazing. There’s nothing quite like the look in their eyes at that moment! Recently we’ve been inspired by some fabulous cakes made by party hosts, customized to display their young one’s favorite hobby or interest.
Here are some birthday cakes that would really light up the kiddies’ eyes:
How can one go wrong with pink and ruffles? This one is perfect for a tea party for a girly girl:

The kids are going to be high on sugar anyway, so why not go all the way with a Candy Cake (there’s actually cake under the M&Ms). Love the Kit Kat fence!

This cake is from Martha Stewart Weddings, but would work just as well at a kid’s birthday party. The petals are easy to pipe with a BIG piping tip, and the little ones will be tickled by the giant cupcakes!!

I love the pink ruffled cake, are the ruffles made from fondant?

Hi Kristen,
We love this cake too! The ruffles are buttercream, and super easy to do! Here’s a link to a youtube tutorial on how to make the ruffles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHYX0qXDVy0
Do check out the dessert table post on ruffleblog.com where we found this lovely cake: http://ruffledblog.com/patisserie-french-bakery-inspired-wedding-dessert-table/.
